Before Your Pet’s Visit
What vaccinations does my pet need to stay at Tail Town?
Please have your veterinarian fax or email the current dates to us or bring in proof of current vaccinations upon arrival.
Age Requirements: Puppies must be 12 weeks of age or older and must have had at minimum Rabies, DAPP (2 rounds) and Bordetella.
Required Vaccinations (administered by a veterinarian required):

Currently, Tail Town is not requiring dogs to be vaccinated with the canine influenza vaccine. We do, however, encourage you to talk to your veterinarian about canine influenza and if it is appropriate depending on your dog’s lifestyle. To be sure your furry friends are up to date on their vaccinations, book an appointment today!
How do I make a Reservation
You can either make a reservation online or by calling our Reservation Center at (505) 891-4100. We will ask you specific questions regarding your pet in order to set up a profile and create a reservation. Tail Town does not require a temperament test or interview prior to boarding.
Can I bring my own dog food?
For the benefit of your pet, Tail Town recommends that you bring their own food pre-bagged per serving per day to maintain your pet's normal diet. This also helps prevent upset stomachs. However, we do provide Hill's Science Diet as our premium house food for $5/per day/per pet. We can accommodate refrigeration need as well.
What is the minimum age for boarding my pet?
The youngest age Tail Town will accept is a 12-week-old puppy or kitten. Your pet must be up-to-date on all vaccinations and have had at least their second set of vaccinations: Rabies, DAPP (2 rounds) and Bordetella. Once a puppy reaches 6 months of age or develops maturity, and they are unaltered, they will only be allowed play sessions with a Tail town Playtime Coordinator or with other dogs from their family.
Can i bring my pet’s favorite toy, blanket or bed?
To ensure a flea and tick free environment, we ask that you do not bring any bedding, fabrics or plush toys. Additionally, we ask that you please do not bring any rawhides, as they can be a choking hazard. We provide all guests with premium bedding and blanket at no additional charge.
Can my dogs stay together?
Yes, same family pets may stay together. However, unaltered pets of opposite genders, over the age of 6 months, must be boarded in separate suites. There is a discounted rate for the second and subsequent pet(s) using the same suite.
What are the hours of operation?
Saturday and Sunday 9-5:00pm
Monday - Friday 6:30am - 7:00pm
Is the facility staffed overnight?
No, our facility is not staffed overnight. Our team is on-site daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM to care for our guests throughout the day. While we are closed to the public overnight, our boarding guests remain safely in our facility until our team returns in the morning.
Do you accept pets with Diabetes?
We can welcome pets with diabetes as long as they do not require medication to manage their condition while staying with us. If your pet requires insulin or other medication for diabetes management, we recommend looking into a veterinary clinic or a facility that specializes in medical boarding. These facilities are better equipped to provide the level of medical care and monitoring your pet may need during their stay.

What is the One-on-One policy?
A dog may be considered a One-on-One if they can’t safely share space with other dogs. This may be due to being intact (not spayed or neutered) or behavioral concerns like dog aggression, excessive dominance, or fearfulness around other dogs. Mobility or agility issues, especially in senior dogs who need extra support, can also make one-on-one care a better fit.
We determine these needs during a temperament assessment when your pet first visits Tail Town. This helps our team learn what type of play and socialization is best for your dog while ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
If you’re new to Tail Town, we invite you to bring your pup for a tour and to meet our team. It’s a chance for your dog to get a feel for our resort and for us to get to know them at no cost to you. During this visit, we’ll let you know if your pup is ready for group play or would benefit from individual care.
What is your cleaning policy?
At Tail Town, our mission is to provide a safe, clean, and fun environment for every pet. All suites, floors, bowls, and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between uses. We also clean all suites and play yards every morning. Our team washes their hands with soap and water or uses hand sanitizer before and after handling each pet.
We carefully inspect all guests to prevent the spread of illness. Verification of core vaccines is required upon arrival. We also check each pup for runny noses, watery eyes, or coughs at check-in. Any pet showing signs of illness during their stay is immediately isolated. If we notice symptoms that could affect others, we will contact pet parents to arrange for pickup.
One On One Guests

My dog is considered a One-on-One, can anything be done to change this?
As dogs get older, their behavior can change. Training can help reduce unwanted behaviors and make them more comfortable around other dogs. If you’ve noticed changes in your dog’s behavior or have worked with a trainer on their social skills, you can speak with our team to request a new temperament assessment.
For the safety of all pets, dogs that are not spayed or neutered will stay One-on-One until they are fixed. We appreciate your understanding.
Will i get charged the One-on-One rate twice if i have 2 dogs in the same suite?
The one-on-one rate is charged per suite, per night.
